Water management and hydraulic structures

We design water management structures from studies through to detailed design documentation: small water reservoirs, pools and dry polders, watercourse restoration, flood-control and erosion-control measures, water mains and sewerage. We design a landscape that retains water – including the components of the territorial system of ecological stability (ÚSES).

What it is for

Structures that return water to the landscape

Drought and flash floods share one solution: a landscape able to retain water. We design measures from a runoff study through to the detailed design documentation of a specific reservoir.

We provide comprehensive design services for water management structures: hydraulic structures, restoration of watercourses and of main drainage systems, land drainage, water mains, sewerage and wastewater treatment plants, flood-control and erosion-control measures, and reservoirs, dry polders and ponds – new build, reconstruction and the restoration of structures that no longer function.

With studies optimising the water regime of the landscape we address drought, floods and torrential rainfall across the whole catchment; the designs are then developed into documentation for permitting the project and for carrying out the works. We also prepare asset registers, manipulation and operating rules of hydraulic structures and as-built documentation.

The team is led by an engineer authorised for water management and landscape engineering structures; the components of the ÚSES – biocentres, biocorridors, windbreaks and interaction elements – are designed by an authorised ÚSES designer (we prepare around 5 design packages a year). A large share of our contracts consists of the common facilities of land consolidation for the branch offices of the State Land Office (Státní pozemkový úřad).

Structures that return water to the landscape

What it covers

What we design

  • Runoff studies and optimisation of the water regime

  • Small water reservoirs, pools, dry polders and ponds

  • Restoration of watercourses and main drainage systems

  • Flood-control measures – linear flood defences and dry reservoirs

  • Erosion-control measures – ditches, swales, low bunds, windbreaks

  • Water mains, sewerage and wastewater treatment plants

  • Components of the ÚSES – biocentres and biocorridors

  • Asset registers, manipulation and operating rules

From our projects

From design to construction

A small water reservoir and pools in the cadastral district of Štítary u Krásné – design documentation for the State Land Office, built as part of the common facilities of land consolidation.

How it works

From the catchment to a structure with final approval

  1. 01

    Study and concept

We evaluate the runoff conditions and propose the measures with the greatest effect.

  2. 02

    Source data

We survey the area with our own surveying teams; for reservoirs we add bathymetry and sediments.

  3. 03

    Documentation and permits

We prepare the design documentation and discuss it with the water authority and the bodies concerned.

  4. 04

    Construction and supervision

We accompany the works with supervision and close them with as-built documentation.

Common questions

What you ask us most.

We prepare the design documentation so that it meets the conditions of grant programmes (the Operational Programme Environment, OPŽP, and others); the material for the application we put together in cooperation with your grant adviser.

Yes – with our own bathymetry we survey the bed and the sediment thicknesses, design the de-silting and the reconstruction of the functional structures, and take the project through to permitting and construction.

Biocentres, biocorridors and interaction elements – a network of natural areas that maintains the ecological stability of the landscape. Their reviews and designs are prepared by our authorised ÚSES designer.
